It is important to understand the magickal power of
colour. Each colour has a
direct effect on us, influencing
our emotions and state of being.
In magick, colours
represent certain energies, goals, people and
non-physical beings, such as deities or spiritual
forces. For this reason, you should include candles,
gemstones, cords and other objects of differing colours
in your magick rituals.
Colours also have personal
meanings for us. Such as, anytime
a person employs the symbolism inherent in colours,
they are in effect using magick. Common examples of this
can be found in such phrases as "green with envy,"
"black with rage," "feeling blue," "in the pink"
... just to mention a few.
The particular symbolism of any given colour
may vary from source to source, depending upon whether
you are burning a candle, knotting a cord, draping an
altar or creating a talisman. Colour
is also applied in zodiac signs, stones and elemental
magick.
Experiment and
find what colour choices best work for you in your
magick and ritual workings.
