Alphabets

These are a few examples of alphabets that I am interested in and use.

THEBAN ALPHABET

 aka

The Witches Alphabet

Also called "The Runes of Honorius", these letters are used to write spells and incantations in a Witches Book of Shadows, and to inscribe one's Craft name on ritual tools and Witch jewels.

Personally, I think this is a beautiful alphabet.  It is magickal in my Grimoire.  Although, I don't use it exclusively, it would be way too difficult to decipher every time I needed to write in it or read it.  So, a lot of plain English works great for the most part.

There is no J, U or W in the Theban language.  One method of writing these letters is to duplicate both the I and V symbols for J and U respectively, and to place one dot beside each to distinguish from their otherwise duplicate characters.  For W, place two dots beside the V character.

It really is a personal preference on how you would like to represent the missing letters.  For me, easy works!

Cherokee Syllabary

Sequoyah" a Cherokee Indian who could neither read nor write, invented and developed a syllabary independent of any other writing system.  For more information about Sequoyah and the Cherokee Alphabet, please click here...
